2012 L.A. Watts Summer Games Girls Soccer Tournament Wrap-Up

In 2012, the L.A. Watts Summer Games Boys and Girls Soccer Tournaments returned to the Home Depot Center...well, at least the playoffs returned to the Home Depot Center.

The girls opened the tournament on Sunday, June 10, 2012, with a field of 13 teams.

Opening day games were played at Fremont HS, Washington Prep HS, and Ted Watkins Park. The semi-final and final matches were played at the Home Depot Center on Saturday, June 16, 2012.

The four teams that moved on to the semi-finals were: Flintridge Sacred Heart, Bell HS, Long Beach Poly, and Fremont HS.

With a few minutes remaining in regulation, Flintridge Sacred Heart scored the winning goal for a 3-2 finish over Long Beach Poly in the final.

Opening day games were played at Fremont HS, Washington Prep HS, Verbum Dei, and Ted Watkins Park. The semi-final and final matches were played at the Home Depot Center on Saturday, June 16, 2012.

The four teams that moved on to the semi-finals were: Fremont High School, Animo High School, San Clemente High School, and Banning High School.

After the smoke cleared it was Fremont over Banning in a 3-1 final.

Modeled after the Summer Olympics, this signature event offers competition platforms for volleyball, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, softball, football, golf and much more. The Games also provides valuable resources and opportunities to Watts and its neighboring communities with resource exhibits, workshops and clinics and healthy eating/fitness initiatives.
